BizABLE Microenterprise Program

The BizABLE Microenterprise Program supports people with disability to explore self employment and develop a small business based around their interests, skills, strengths, and goals.

We recognise that traditional employment and disability employment options are not the right fit for everyone. A microenterprise can provide an alternative pathway to meaningful work, greater choice and control, and active participation in the community.

Whether you’re starting with an idea, testing a product or service, or looking for support to grow an existing business, BizABLE can help you take the next step!

Our focus is on creating realistic, individualised business opportunities that work for you. This may include selling handmade products, providing a service, developing creative work, operating a market stall, working online, or building a business within the local community.

How the Program is Delivered

The BizABLE Microenterprise Program is delivered through practical, person-centred support. We work alongside each participant to understand their goals, identify their strengths, and develop a business pathway that is achievable and meaningful for them.

Support can be delivered one to one, as part of a group program, or virtually online — whatever best suits your goals, preferences, circumstances, and NDIS budget. We work with each participant to identify the delivery approach that provides the right level of support, connection, and flexibility.

Support may include…

Support is flexible and can be adapted to a participant’s communication style, learning preferences, support needs, and available capacity. The aim is not to create pressure to grow quickly, but to build a sustainable pathway that works and are sustainable.

Opportunities for People with Disability

Through the BizABLE Microenterprise Program, participants have the opportunity to:

  • Turn a passion, interest, or skill into a meaningful business activity

  • Build confidence, independence, and decision-making skills

  • Develop practical experience in real-life environments

  • Earn income from products or services (where appropriate)

  • Create a flexible work routine that reflects their strengths and circumstances

  • Build connections with customers, other business owners, and the broader community

  • Increase visibility and recognition for their skills and contributions

  • Develop transferable skills that may support future employment or other goals

  • Experience greater choice and control over how they work and contribute

Success looks different for every participant. For one person, success may be launching a product and making their first sale. For another, it may be building confidence, attending a market, developing a regular routine, or growing a small customer base.

BizABLE celebrates progress at every stage.

Building Sustainable Microenterprises…

The program takes a realistic and sustainable approach to entrepreneurship. We help participants understand the practical requirements of running a business, while also recognising the importance of balance, wellbeing, and appropriate ongoing support.

Participants are encouraged to test ideas, learn from experience, and grow at a pace that suits them. The focus is on developing businesses that are purposeful, achievable, and connected to genuine opportunities, not simply creating a business for the sake of it.

BizABLE provides a supportive environment where people with disability can explore what is possible, develop their business capability, and take meaningful steps towards self-employment.
